Age criteria and admission guidelines
These follow current Ministry of Education regulations and may change. The age that counts is your child's age on 31 March of the year of admission.
- KG1: your child must turn 4 on or before 31 March of the year of admission.
- KG2: your child must turn 5 on or before 31 March of the year of admission.
- Grade 1: your child must be 6, and not older than 8, on 31 March of the year of admission. A two-year age bracket applies to all grades except KG, subject to Ministry of Education approval.
- Children in KG1, KG2 or Grade 1 already studying in Ajman or another emirate are not affected by revised age rules, but need a Passed and Promoted result and an attested TC.
- Transfers from the same curriculum should be completed by 31 May; after that a discontinued or running TC is required.
- Gaps in schooling longer than one month need supporting documents and Ministry of Education approval.
- Students from non-Indian curricula can be admitted only in June, subject to seat availability.
- Admission to Grades 9 and 10 needs prior approval from the Ministry of Education.
- If a transfer certificate shows 'Year' instead of 'Grade', the student is admitted one grade lower because of the difference in age criteria.
Documents needed to confirm admission
- Attested transfer certificate and final result with school stamp and Principal's signature (KG2 to Grade 9, for start-of-year admissions). Not required for KG1, KG2 or Grade 1 if the child has never attended school in the UAE.
- For admissions after 31 May (including KG1, KG2 and Grade 1): an attested discontinued or running TC, the final result of the previous grade, and the first term or periodic test result of the current grade.
- Grade 10: attested mark sheet of the previous year and a stamped TC.
- Birth certificate in English or Arabic (2 copies)
- Immunisation certificate (2 copies)
- Passport with at least 6 months' validity; first, last and visa pages on one side of a single sheet (3 copies)
- Residence visa with at least 6 months' validity (3 copies)
- Emirates ID with at least 6 months' validity, both sides on one side of a sheet (2 copies)
- Parents' passports and Emirates IDs (2 copies each)
- 4 recent photos on a white background, 4 cm × 6 cm, not older than 3 months
Transfer certificate attestation
Coming from India or any country outside the Gulf
The TC must be attested by the District Education Officer in India (or the equivalent authority in your country), the Indian Consulate in Dubai (or your country's consulate), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ajman. Results need the school stamp and Principal's signature on the original. KG1, KG2 and Grade 1 new admissions need the same if admitted after 31 May.
Coming from Gulf countries other than the UAE
The TC must be attested by the Ministry of Education of that country, and the result must carry the school stamp and Principal's signature.
Coming from Within the UAE
The original TC or School Leaving Certificate (Arabic) from your last school, attested by the Ministry of Education, KHDA (Dubai) or ADEK (Abu Dhabi), plus the previous grade's result with the school stamp and Principal's signature.
Direct admission to Grade 10 needs prior approval from CBSE. All admissions depend on seat availability and the school's screening. The Principal may refuse admission to a student whose conduct or academic performance is not satisfactory.
Placement test
Every applicant takes a placement test, which our academic team reviews. Placement decisions consider your child's previous schooling, test performance and age, and are made by the Principal. First placements are provisional and may be adjusted after further observation so that each child is in the right class.
Inclusive admissions
We welcome applications from all students, regardless of gender, race, disability or special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), provided we can meet their individual needs without affecting the education and wellbeing of other students. No student is refused admission only because they have SEND. Students with special needs are considered on an equal basis with all applicants. Read more about inclusion at Woodlem.
Withdrawal and transfer certificates
- Apply for a transfer certificate online through the Parent Portal using the login the school provided.
- A running or discontinued TC takes 7 to 14 days after the last day of attendance and clearance of dues.
- A promoted TC takes 3 to 4 weeks after Open House, if there are no pending dues (subject to the Ministry's timeline for result approval and attestation).
- Collect your child's medical record from reception once you receive the TC.
